Clarence Barlow

He was born in 1945 into Calcutta's English-speaking minority. His first compositions date from 1957. Obtaining a science degree in 1965, he moved in 1968 to Cologne, where he studied electronic music and composition at the Music Academy with Eimert, Zimmermann and Stockhausen until 1973. Since 1969 he has worked in electronic studios in Cologne, Utrecht, Stockholm, Paris, Amsterdam and The Hague. His use of a computer as a compositional aid dates from 1971. He was appointed lecturer for Computer Music at Cologne Music Academy in 1984. In 1986 he was instrumental in founding GIMIK: Initiative Music and Informatics Cologne, which under his musical directorship organised the XIVth International Computer Music Conference in Cologne in 1988. From 1990-94 he was Artistic Director of the Institute of Sonology at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where he is now Professor of Composition and Sonology. He lives in Amsterdam and Cologne.
Nobuyasy Sakonda

Musician. Major installation works "water machine" and "tango mechano for incubator". There have been numerous solo performances and collaborations with other musicians. A member of "neumannpiano" with Masayuki Akamatsu and they published "Magical Max Tour", the 1st book entirely devoted to Max. Organizer of Max discussion forum "Commu Telepresence Lab" on Computer Music BBS. He has been appearing in a series " Starting Audio Programming with MSP" on Sound Recording Magazine. Collaboration CD "Max Variety Show" and solo CD "clockwork hermes".etc. @Now lives in Kobe.
Masatsune Yoshio

Suguru Goto

He has been composing numerous interactive compositions since 1991. Heused Max/FTS with ISPW on NeXT computer in his compositions. His worksare lately constructed on MSP in conjunctionwith his Virtual Musical Instruments and interactive video.He has received numerous prizes and fellows in his compositions.
Masahiro Miwa

Born in 1958, in Tokyo, he has mainly been composing in the fieldof contemporary music, as well as collaborating with various artists.His works have been recorded in his CDs "Rotkappchen-Begleiter" (Fontec)and "GesSnge des Ostens" (Fontec). His book, "The Music Theory of theComputer Age" was published with Justsystem, Inc. He also published hisindependent production CD series, "Ascending Music for the End of theCentury". He has been active in a variety of fields.

Masayuki Akamatsu

He has principally produced media works concerning music and computer. He is especially interested in building environments, as if thework itself is active, but independent, even though it is interactive. Heis a member of the algorithmic band "neumannpiano", the digital-analog hybridband "Wolfgang Nai", and the pure electric band "gaspillage". He also worksas a systems operator, "commu tele-presence lab." in BBS. His main worksare sound installations; "soundtronics field", the live act "ManMade series"and lately "incubator" with 50 iMacs. His book "Magical Max Tour" hasbeen published.
